Our green is due to open for the 2023 season
With the end of the season drawing to a close, it is very satisfying to confirm that our A team in the Borough mens fours finished in a comfortable 3rd place.
In addition they have reached the final of the Borough team competition against West Mersea to be played at Severalls on Sunday 11th September. To add to our success, the men have reached the final of the group 1 unbadged double fours, following a win last night against Wivenhoe in a very tight match.
The final is to be played on the weekend 17th/18th September against West End on their green. Support for our teams would be appreciated

Following our convincing win against Colchester tonight l am pleased to advise that we have won the Sudbury Mixed Triples League (SMTL). This was a close run thing which came down to our final match, Boxford Blue and ourselves have been front runners all season, Cornard and Bocking were also in contention. For your information this is only the second time that Arclight have won the SMTL in the history of the competition, l therefore consider this a notable achievement for the club. I would personally like to thank each and everyone of you for your support and efforts throughout the season which is much appreciated. There have been times when l have been scratching around for players, particularly the ladies, however there was always someone to put their name forward, conversely there has been other times where l have found it difficult to leave people out due to the number of names listed for selection. I hope everyone was happyand understood my decisions. To sum up a big thank you for a very successful season and a very WELL DONE.

The Club is shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our Men’s Captain, Richard Nicholson, and the sympathy of all the club is extended to Jill and the rest of Richard’s family.
Richard was a long-standing member of the Club and had served it well for many years, as a member of the Committee and especially in the role of Men’s Captain, a post which makes great demands on the holder throughout the season.
He was a very good competitive bowler and brought honour to the Club by winning the Borough Pairs in 2011, the Borough Fours in 2016 and the Borough Triples in 2016. He had won his County badge and had represented Essex on 12 occasions.
We have lost a good bowler, a good captain, a good club member and, above all, a good friend.
